Told you so Richard, always someone that has the better tow car than you, my advise try them all before you buy, Sorrento might be a good tow car so are all the rest.

I have had 3 Shoguns in 20 years the last one or ten years never had no faults apart from light bulbs to replace.

My mate has had is Land Cruiser 12 years 110,000 miles still going strong, heard on this forum some have had problems with the diff on Sorrento, so do your home work and go with what you feel is best, l would have the Land Rover but her in doors loves the Shoguns.

Hi

I tow a Lunar delta 640EW simmilair weight and length. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 V6 Diesel which makes light work of the van, both towing and controlling it. I have met several other vanners who tow simmilair vans with the prev grand cherokee 2.7 diesels and also the Land rover Discovery TDV6 models. I am sure the Sorrento would also prove capable , but if you are looking at used why look at a 4cylinder diesel when you can get a V6 diesel with dramaticaly more torque giving similair fuel consumption for around the same price. Added to which the Grand Cherokee has one of the finest engines (Merc) which is coupled to the the best auto box.

Hi Richard,

The alternative to a 4x4 and probably better mpg is an MPV,one of the larger ones like a sedona they will happily pull a caravan up to two tons.
