Hi,

Just looking to get a van and have the following question.

I passed my test in October 2000.

We have a Hyundai Tuscon 2.0 CDX Petrol, which according to the website: http://www.hyundai.co.uk/newCars/tucson/technical/

has a kerb weight of 1542kgs and a Gross vehicle weight of 2140kgs

We are looking at a Sterling Eccles 2000 and from the following website: http://www.abbey-caravans.com/1999STEREcclesSTATS.html

has a mass in running order? of 985kgs and a maximum technical permissable laden mass of 1200kgs

Will I be able to tow this without having to pass my B+E pratical test?

Luke

It's easy, really,

Max. GVW of car = 2140kg

MTPLM of caravan = 1200kg

Total gross train weight = 3340kg

This is less than 3.5 tonnes and the MTPLM of the caravan is less than the kerbweight of the car. Therefore, no need for a B&E licence.
