Do you leave them on when on away on a site. A person on site has left them on for years and just removed the mirrors. Went out in car and parked on a car park. When returned they had been stolen,so now looking for replacement clamps to be able to tow home.

I tended to the view if it can be nicked it may well be nicked. Hence battery came home when the van went into store. Despite being a Gold CASSOA site.

I've seen people driving solo with towing mirrors still attached for unknown reasons. I see no benefit to leaving the clamps behind, as it's quicker to fit my Millenco Mirrors with the clamp on the arm.

Same for demountable towballs, why are you leaving it on the car when you're not towing? It's just going to rust and get stuck. I take mine off the second I'm done with it.

Depending on how clamps were required, it may have been cheaper to buy new mirrors. LOL! Our Milenco Aero had 2 clamps on each mirror.

There could be perfectly good reasons for driving with the towing mirrors on. A couple of times when I'm preparing to depart and have got the mirrors on, I've realised I need fuel, so just popped to the nearest station with the mirrors still in place.

I am pretty sure it is illegal to drive solo with extended ‘caravan’ mirrors attached.

It is, BUT, the other week we overnight stopped at a Cl site, sorted the caravan out and went for. Fuel for the next day, I just folded the mirrors back so they were not extended out, whilst going for fuel.
It would be an interesting point if I had been stopped by the police.
