towing must have

im looking for some advice whilst towing our van recently we noticed a fantastic cover on the front of another caravan what a fab idea no more squashed flies to clean off after towing where if possible can i find one

Yes, I have the self-same cover that you saw. It is by Pro-Tec. You attach it by using the awning rail, little bits of canvas stuff slide in with straps which you clipclick to staps from the cover, tension them up...and as you travel the wind resistance sticks it down even more. Be warned though, it does leave a lot of black streaks in wet weather. It is great for keeping the flies down, and also for keeping the inside cool (when we have that rare thing, a summer day). Cost is about

This idea of diverting the airstream was fitted to a lot of caravanners way back in the sixties, but then they were solid type, not sure whether grp or metal.

Yeah, I had one. Was metal and fixed by a bar to car roof using roof gutter al la roofrack. Was towing with a 1.4 Ford in them days and it sure made a difference by shifting the wind flow over the van roof.
