TOWING ?

We have recently purchased a Lunar Zenith 4 with a MRO of 890 and a MPTLM of 1150. We have a Vauxhall Zafira 2.0dti with a MPTLM of 1055. If we keep the caravan light are we ok to tow? also if we could get the Caravan plate reduced down to 1055 from Lunar does that make us legal?

Any advice is greatly recieved.

Thanks

Paul and Becki

The maximum permissible towload of the 2.0 diesel Zafira is 1050kg. This means that the maximum gross weight of the caravan that you may legally tow is 1050 + noseweight (75kg) = 1125kg. In other words, you just have to make sure that you stay at least 25kg below the MTPLM of your caravan and you'll be OK. There is no need for replating the caravan so long as you observe this limit.

Thanks for the advice. We where begining to think we had to change car which would be a great shame as we love the Zafira
