Tracker Alarm

I apologise if this subject has been raised before.

I have a 2009 Bailey Senator California with a Tracker Alarm and the problem is that the alarm will go off for no apparent reason after an hour or two, reset it then a hour or two lateroff it goes again.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Now I have had to leave it off, consequence is that it invalidates my insurance.

Resolves from my dealer are something in van setting it off, sunlight coming through blinds and now remove battery from PIR (same as not turning it on) but at least tracker would be on.

Thanks for looking

Simon

What type of alarm is it?

Is it the tracker alerting you or just the alarm going off? as the 2 might might not be linked together?

Sunlight coming in through the blinds!!!! must have a light sensitive alarm "NOT"

Some alarms tell you what has been activated etc,so at least you can fault find say a pir or leg sensor also they can run diags on sensors.

Might be a spider mooching about if its the pir going off, or the wind rocking the van causing the leg sensor to activate?

It`s a Tracker Alarm works only with a PIR sensor its not clever enough to know if van is being moved ie leg sensor, tilt switch.

Its only the alarm going off as its the storage owners who are contacting me ( 25mile round trip)not the Tracker people.

I`m pretty sure its not itsy bitsy bugs setting it off, as we have given the van a good vacuuming.

I have read up quickly on the alarm/tracker fitted , not a lot you can do to test, the pir is an option and when the alarm goes it doesnt activate the tracker only movement of the van will do this.

It could be a number of things the pir is faulty or the alarm itself.

It depends on how frequently it goes off as from what you say you dont want to disable the pir.If it was frequent i would disable the pir and wait if not you are taking a chance but the alarm will still activated so if the pir is faulty the alarm will not go off , if it does i would say its the unit.

When i had a idm2 back in 1997, the alarm would go off now and then, in the old house i had the van on the front drive, so often the alarm would wake us up.

Turned out the pir was going off due to taxies using their hand sets!, we had a young lad over the road who would often be dropped off in the early hours!

A new modified pir sorted it, of cause the idm flagged up the pir as the problem, as would you would expect from a modern alarm?

From the op i assume the new systems are wire less, great now we have to carry spare batteries and i suppose another fob?

Much prefer the IDM3, not perfect, but over 6 years never failed, has a tilt alarm for what its worth, and a good old fashioned practical key pad, and its wired.

Well, further to my original post, I have been in contact with Tracker re alarm, spoke to a very helpful chap called Alex.

He advised removing battery from wireless PIR and switch on and test, if alarm still activates then its a problem with the control and they will come out and repair ( appparently has three year guarantee)if not then its the PIR, contact my dealer who should be able to order a new one from Bailey.

He also told me the alarm also has movement sensing so will set of alarm as well as notify Tracker that van is moving.

Oh well you learn something new everyday.

Simon.

We have the same caravan and have found that if the sunlight hits the PIR then it is enough to trigger it, what we do is keep the insect screen pulled across the rooflight above the lounge and that seems to stop the problem.

Update Re Tracker Alarm

Reinstalled PIR and off it goes again, at least I now know its the PIR setting it off. Before I approaching dealer decided to remove PCB from PIR, put it under the zooming glass and low and behold what do I see, around battery +ve connection to PCB, a crack in the solder meaning we have a dry joint, gets the soldering iron out resolder joint and now no further problems.
