The Telegraph started it and basically made up a story recently about airport scanners wiping a Kindle. No investigation, no corroborating evidence, no other cases except the one they reported. Blaming the x-ray machine for breaking the kindle as it had stopped working after being x-rayed is about as sensible as someone having a little dance and it starts raining therefore assuming the dancing caused the rain... Given how many tens of thousands of Kindles, laptops, iPads, etc go through scanners problem-free every day it was a classy bit of lazy Telegraph journalism. Nothing to be worried about at all with it.
