Trouble with static caravan insurance quote

Hi all. I have a 2012 swift avengue static caravn and had a tree branch crash onto my kitchen skylight. I would have thought this would be a simple insurance job but how wrong i have been and would appreciate any advise anyone can give. I have had a nightmare finding two quotes to repair this as it seems a lot of repairers have not done a skylight before. So far i have had two come back to me and say that swift no longers keeps stock of the parts so wont be able to do a repair. The insurance loss adjuster isnt answering any questions and has asked for a report from the manufacturer static the cause of the damage. This is outragous - as if swift will entertain coming out and looking and stating whats this damage was caused by. Its driving me mad and now its started leaking. I though insrance claims were straighforward how wrong was i. Anyone have ideas?

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately this is primarily a touring caravan forum so our knowledge of statics may have limitations, but hang in there, we are a helpful bunch and if anyone knows anything they will shout up.
The only thing I know about is the Approved Workshop Scheme which is primarily mobile technicians for servicing caravans so unlikely to be what you need; whether anyone diversifies into statics I know not, but might be worth a look.
Good luck
Mel

Welcome to the Forum Hipflask.

Write a letter to the insurers Loss adjuster asking for details of repairers they and your Insurers use . Copy in your insurers.

Did you keep the tree branch that caused the damage? Can you see the tree that lost the branch? Was the damage caused during a storm?

Contact Swift and ask them about a replacement sky light and whether a later version will fit with a bit of modification?

Good luck but you must take it step by step .

If you are on a site with other statics the owners of those may know a business that repairs them. You could effect a temporary repair to keep water out using heavy grade plastic sheeting and a good outdoor weather proof tape. Eternabond or Rooflock or Gorilla outdoor tape. Some will even bond on damp surfaces that are clean.
