Has any one removed the blue float/ filter from the bottom of the pistol type hose, if so what did you replace it with ? I need something smaller to fit into as smaller opening than the 40l aquaroll .

Yes always take them off and just fit a non return valve. Stops getting air in system every time you take it out of aquaroll as the pipe stays filled with water,

Thanks for your reply , take it you don't bother with a filter ? Is the barbed end of valve 10mm ?

Non return valve i use is not barbed but just use a stainless steel jubilee clip on pipe to hold tight..Haven't used the strainers for over 15 years.
