Truma s3002p heater problems

After an incident with a large pothole, my Truma heater has developed a couple of problems that I am sure the brains on this forum will help with!

The sudden shock has caused some damage to heater.

Gas control knob, when pressed down to ignite, jams in down position. No gas flow, it seems as if the hook end of wire control is just pushing too far into regulator on floor. The regulator has knurled hole, is there supposed to be fitment in it? The wire seems undamaged and straight. Reg turns OK.

Other problem is that the thermostat has dislodged: the cradle it sits in has moved. Does this cradle sit so that thermostat is shielded from heat of heater by the cradle or exposed to heater?

Thanks in advance, I think I'll need gas heating as snow if forecast for later in week!

Answers very simple, get someone who knows the heater to check it out, no use you half fixing it and getting it working to some degree, but in possibly a dangerous condition.
