Trumatic space heater,

Hi everyone,I,ve got a problem with the heater which is a Truma S3002, 2003 vintage.

Whilst trying to light it,the pilot flame lights, but fails to light the main burner.

Any helpful thoughts about the probable cause would be gratefully received.

My first thought would be the fire is little used, in this case I would expect the piston controlling the gas supply to the main burner is sticking.

When you press down to light, you are pushing the piston down to the closed position, when the pilot lights and you release the control knob, the piston should follow and allow gas to the main burner.

Very often the piston sticks down which might be evident by the control knob not coming fully back up?

If I'm right, the valve will need expert attention to correct or very often people will only replace it.

Warning, DO NOT even consider using WD40 or the like!

If the piston/ coupling actuator pin is sticking, the valve must be replaced, as it could mean the gas supply will not shut off properly in the event of the flame blowing out.

The valve cannot be "serviced" is not serviced it must be replaced. teh job must be carried out by a competent fitter.

Ah - I have a similar problem with the same model Truma (Trauma?) It will light up, but very quickly goes out - will not stay alight.Suspect valve? What cost? Incl Labour?
