Trumer Heater

Hi guys . Can anybody please help on this one.

Just been away for the first time in our Ace Supreme only to find on the elecric side the heater didnt get very warm , I have to say tho we turned over to gas and it wasmore then warm but could adjust suite.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi Stewart,

I think you'll find all Truma heaters are not as powerful on the electric function as they are on gas.

We find the trick is to let it heat right up as as a convector heater before switching the fan on, then only use the fan on a fairly low speed. It would appear that if you use the fan straight away it cools the elements down before they achieve their optimum temperature.

For nightime heat if required we just use a small oil filled radiator (Halfords) to keep the chill off then a nice thick duvet!.

The Truma will give 2000w on electric, 3000w on gas, that's 5000w both together.

We find 2000w electric adequate, even in Scottish winters.

The 500, 1000 and 2000w electric settings are controlled by relays, maybe one, or more, has failed.

You do not say which Truma heater you have. Mine is a Truma Ultraheat S3002. These have 3 power settings, 500 w, 1000w and 2000w. You must also make sure the temperature thermostat is full on, or the heater will cut off when it achieves set temperature. On 2000w mine is sufficient for all but the most extreme low temperature. On a freezing mornings I often start mine off on gas for a rapid warm up,then change over to electric. The trumavent fan can be run in manual or Auto,in Auto it runs very slowly initially and speeds up as the caravan warms up.

Thanks to you for yor inputon this

I suppose the heat is there and left for long periods on just convector , slow or otherwise it turns cold very quickly. I understand about turning the stat up even on 2000 and still made no difference .
