For satnav we use apple / google maps on the phone via carplay and its never really steered me wrong yet. Didnt see the need to buy a caravan specific system as I always have a look at the routes on google earth and check the sites recommended route to get there.

We use two 21" Samsung TV's in our van. When we first started out we used the aerial and it was hit and miss what channels we could get. We then progressed to using the smart apps and now use firesticks in them as it is just simpler to use and more responsive. Never looked into satellite as its just something else to carry around and set up.

For internet we didnt even consider it at first - until the first holiday and had a 7 year old who couldnt watch his shows at night as our phones didnt get signal on Vodafone. We ended up with a Sky mobile sim in a MIFI device as they allow you to save up unused data for 3 years however with their price rises it was £120 odd for just the caravan. We also found that there were often sites where the signal wasnt good enough for reliable service. We have now progressed to Starlink which we use on the roam plan. Find this a fantastic solution and have never been on a site with it where we cant get superfast internet with it and it still costs us less per year than our Sky sim did. Starlink isnt to everyones taste and there are a lot on here who dont like it however seeing a lot more people with it on sites and it suits our needs perfectly.

Trish has not been back since they reopened the thread?
Probably got scared off 😉

I’ve used a 65cm eliptical dish with quad LNB driving a Sky HD Plus box for the last 30 years. Bar one location in Sutherland , never failed to get a signal in the U.K.
This year I had to buy a new sat finder. A Prime sat FS 700. Brilliant piece of kit👏👏

I seem to remember a time down at Waterrow, you spent ages of drinking time setting , your satellite system up. 🍺🍺🍺
