Tyre shoes

Has anyone ever herd of this product. I was looking through a clssic car mag today and come across this advert for them, they stop tyres flat spotting. the website is http://www.permabag.com/tireshoes.htm If anyone has any info Im thinking of getting some for the van!

I can't really see how a round pad will work. The weight of the car will deform the tyre so therefore it isn't round where it is in contact with the ground, even with a round pad it will deform when say 1.5 tons + gravity at 10nm3 is pressing down on it. The only way to prevent flat spots is to take the weight off the tyre.
 
As the pad is shaped to take the tyre, it will increase the contact area slightly and so reduce the surface pressure between tyre and ground but I would imagine that the effect is so minimal that it certainly isn't worth the
 
Axle stands have an additional benefit - they allow the rubber suspension elements to rest, which helps to extend their life. Al-Ko recommend this for their chassis.
