tyre size

just gone to renew the tyres on the van only to find the handbook and tyres fitted are different it's a bailey ranger 470/4 2004 the tyrwes fitted are 185/65 r14 but the handbook says 185 r14 which makes them a bigger tyre (cheeper but poss to big for the van) has anyone else come across this i rang the local bailey dealer and he looked it up and he said all rangers come on the /65

confused

185R14 is an incomplete specification. You need to know what the aspect ratio is. Is it 185/60R14, 185/65R14, 185/70R14 or what?

Actually there is a 185 R14, it has a 102 load index so an 8ply commercial tyre I would think.

It can be taken the aspect ration is 80% and that makes it 28mm bigger on the radius than a 185/65 and giving the same difference to ride height!!

It would also need this extra clearance above to clear the wheel arch on full deflection, I would then advise ringing Bailey for their comment.

thanks for your replies it turns out we have the wrong manual for the van 2002 instead of 2004 so wrong info now all sorted
