Tyre Size

Andrew

I can not help with the size of your tyres as it is on the sidewall should look like this 135x15R allso the pressure it is vital that this is correct for safe running.

If you requier replacements, they must be 8ply which is for caravans cars are 4/5 ply and are not suitable. any caravan dealer will supply and fit.

Any thing else on tyres come back.

Hope this helps

Avoid caravan dealers, they'll charge the earth and they really don't know what they're talking about.

You'll need to know the size of the tyres eg 195/70 x 14 AND the MTPLM of the caravan. Ring round tyre outlets, tell them it's for a caravan, quote the size and weight, and they'll help you out.

I used www.tyretraders.com - you have to remember to add the fitting charge but they're still cheaper than most other places.

Hankook tyres have a poor reputation for blow-outs on caravans so best to avoid them.

Your caravan was probably fitted with 185/13 8ply tyres.Ring round your local tyre dealers and see whos cheapist.Dont worry about wear as they will crack before they wear out.

got this of other forum

Load Index.

A tyre is designed to carry a specific load or weight, an overloaded tyre will quickly overheat and the risk of puncture

increases accordingly. For single axle caravans it seems hardly worth mentioning the importance of avoiding punctures.

The Load Index is shown large on the tyre wall immediately behind the size coding and in front of the speed letter code.

A typical example will be:- 165/70/R/13 79T.

165/70 is the tyre width and height ratio in millimetres.

R indicates a radial type construction

13 is the wheel diameter in inches

79 is the Load Index

T is the speed code.

To be legal, and safe, a single axle caravan must have tyres designated as suitable to carry at least half of the maximum

allowable weight or Technically Permissible Laden Mass (MTPLM). The Load Index number represents the tyre maximum

weight limit in kilograms. A pair of tyres index coded 79 may not used on a caravan having a MTPLM in excess of 874 kg.
