tyres

i have just got another van which is a avondale dart. on the two previous vans i had the tyres were reinforced. do i need to get this vans tyres changed to reinforced or are the tyres that are on the van ok? ps what is the differance between the two types? thankyou.

The tyres do not necessarily have to be reinforced but they must have a load carrying capacity which is adequate for the weight of the caravan. To check, divide the maximum weight of the caravan (its MTPLM) by 2 (assuming it's a single axle) and compare this with the load index marked on the sidewall of the tyre. Here's a table of load index versus load carrying capacity (in kilos):

I have promised myself never to have tyres more than 4 years old as I have had a blow out once on 5 year olds that looked perfect.
