Hi, my 2007 bailey 6 berth pageant series 6 states tyre pressure 42 psi, for such a big van this just doesn't seem adequate as my MMover squeels as well but it says 42 in handbook so there it is, but im still uncomfortable about it

Hello Smurf,

Youve been around the forum long enough to know you will get a better response if you post in the relevant category areas. I suggest you repost in technical.

sounds to me that you have those 195/70R14 tyres commonly fitted back then?

These are of the 'reinforced' type construction and do indeed have a universal 42psi maximum working pressure, this for the above size depending on load index number, 95 or 96, is, either 1420kg or 1380kg

Today being scarce so fairly expensive, these tyres are in general replaced with a choice of 'Commercial' type tyres, ie, the three options are 175R14C 99Li, 185/75R14C or 175/75R14C both with a 102 load index

Of different construction, these can and do have a higher pressure requirement.

For interest, the maximum pressure embossed on the tyre sidewall is an American 'thing' and has to be there to comply with US legislation. It does not necessarily mean that it applies this side of the pond.

Equally though it would be regarded as reckless to ignore the pressure rating embossed on a tyre especially if its is the only piece or pressure information.
