Have had one of these on order from local dealer for a little over five weeks now. Dealer says that "rep" visited last friday and said there were none in the country. Any one know differently ?

I'm told that the Ultima 260 has a better or stronger pole system to thers with a similar name, is that true ?

Neil, according to Google there is no such awning as an Optima 260 (althought it's a possibility it didn't pick it up) so it's probably more likely it's an Ultima 260. If you paid a lot more than that is there a possibility you have ordered the 390 which is the three section awning?

If you're unsure as to availability there were up to 30 or 40 of the 260's available with a lower price on ebay last week because I was looking at them. One sold for

Hi Andrew

That is where we had our 390 from, much cheaper than any where else at the time.

We upgarded from the 260 after only using it for a weekend, the 260 was nearly the same price from the other dealer as we paid for 390 from the site you mentioned.

I'm told that the new version expected in the counrty very soon is quite a different model with stronger material and upgraded poles, but hence the hike in price

Does the stronger material and upgraded poles mean that it will not be as light? Do you know if it is possible to see the new one online anywhere as I was just about to place an order for a 260 but now wonder what the new version is like?

when i ordered it (without paying for it) my local dealer said that the poles are stronger and don't flex as much and that the material was of a superior quality.

After waiting five weeks now i'm told they are expected any time.

We purchased a Ultima 260 last year from Awnings Direct and they were very prompt with delivery. We were also very impressed with the 260 as a weekend awning as it is very easy to erect, and fairly light. It also comes in a bag which I have so far been able to get it back into. Not sure what needs upgrading as we have had no problems and it has been exposed to some fairly high winds with no trouble. We certainly recommend it.

I'm thinking of trading up from a Scenic Plus awning to the Ultimia 260 or even 390.

Does the awning rail have to be perfectly straight for the Ultima awnings? Would there be any issues if the rail wasn't straight?

Hi Martin,

I have just received Ultima porch 260 awning from Awnings Direct

The assy instructions under pitching read as follows:-

The Ultma should be positioned on the caravan so that the beading is horizontal. The beading should not slope, as it will not be possible to get a satisfactory result.

The actual length of the awning is 260cm so if you caravan roof has a straight length of 260cm you should be okay.

Trust this info is helpfull

Hi

We have just purchased the Ultima 390. how does the front of the awning seal to the van, I beleave it is straight at both ends. My van is straight at the back and the awning will finish before the front slope. Is there a special seal?

Regards

Thanks for the comments. It looks like that the Ultima 390 might be too long for the Ranger as the awning rail slopes down towards the front. As we are thinking of changing the van next year, I might just put up with a 'wonky' awning for a year.

The front sides nor the back sides do not fit to anything, you have to pull them down very tight and you peg very tight to the van.

I see that one of the porch awnings I think it is a Bradcott porch awning had padded edging to give more of a seal.

Hope this helps.
