Under 50's only Site

This topic ties in nicely with Andy's other topic which asks about the differences between the C&CC and the CC.
Have a read through some of the comments throughout the topics on this forum and decide for yourself just how warmly welcomed children are on CC sites

I think some people are forgetting what its like to have kids. I have a feeling they may be of the generation where children were seen and not heard. Time to move forward into the modern ages!!!

However Phil has actaully proved a point re how having a families only type site would be a good idea. Just look at the condeming reaction to his areoplanning and tomfoolery with the kids comment. I can imagine those same people being the ones that tut and huff when a football rolls onto the corner of their pitch.

This is where you and I and no doubt a few others disagree strongly. How anyone can condone running around the aisles of a supermarket with their kids beggars belief and shows how irresponsible some can be with their children.
Let's get it right. There is nothing wrong with tomfoolery/playing with your kids but at least some realise there's a correct time AND PLACE to do this

If anyone thinks the above is acceptable is it any wonder some complain about out of control kids on club sites. Unbelieveable.
OH and yes, I'd be one of the tut tutting ones if a ball came on to my pitch. People know the rules regarding balls and if they don't like them don't go to that site. Simple. There are plenty of sites, including club sites, that have areas for playing football etc. so there is no excuse Andy. Maybe if you'd paid £16k for your caravan and had a nice dink in it from a ball you might see it from a different perspective rather than saying "so what,it's only kids enjoying themselves".
You have to look at the whole picture rather than tunnel vision

I agree theres a time and place for everything. For some reason everyone seems to have assumed the Phil is dambustering in a PACKED and BUSY supermarket with aisles full of old people and kids. I certainly cant see anything in his comment where he said this is the case yet he is flamed for being irresponsible and not a good example to his children. Frankly thats downright rude.
How about a half empty supermarket with no one in vision. Is having a bit of fun with the kids such a crime? or should they be tethered to the trolley like a dangerous animal.

re the football, I may noy have a 16K caravan but i do have a 16K car and would hate to get a football dent in it. Yet I also wouldnt restrict my lad to not having fun on his holiday. Its all about being reasonable and play areas are generally used if they are there, as are no ball games rules ( by my lad anyway) but a stray football that rolls into someones pitch is hardly going to dent your Van. If it is such a worry, why not stop taking it outdoors and just park it up in a well secured place like fort Knox where you can just look, admire and polish it to your hearst content without the fear of anything damaging it.

My opinion of needing sites where kids can play happily without some random stranger shouting at them for walking across a peice of land they have rented for a few days or worrying that a football is going to hit their van with the force of a small nuclear bomb is getting stronger each time i read this

I grew up in the 60s, yes I could be a rum un, but i knew the limits, the big difference now days is RESPECT, or the lack of it. I have a seven year old grandson who comes away with us in the caravan, our time is spent with him, unlike a lot of other children who arrive on site and are left to there own devices.

Do you really mean ' a LOT of other children' or maybe just a handful you have seen being unruly?

All I will say to your post Andy is yes, I've got children AND grandchildren and I know I've taught them responsibility and respect to others from the feedback we've received. If all did the same there would be no need for people to complain about ball games or kids running around supermarket aisles. Yes, you did say ball rolling across the corner of the pitch but the simple reason is kids shouldn't be playing ball around pitches. The next kick could be your van.
Regarding PhilSpadders comment about supermarket aisles where did he say that he only does it at quiet times. Have you seen kids running around the aisles in supermarkets because I have and at busy times because busy times usually means when the kids are off school. If you haven't seen kids running amok in supermarkets you need to get to one and help your missus do the packing

Oh dear Andy, perhaps I am generalising to much, by the same standing there is also a lot that are very well behaved,why? because there parents share there time with there children, unlike some that think it is acceptable to leave there children to there own devices once through the park gates.

So the C&CC, sites and their members are all for kids running about and screaming at the top of their heads around the camp-site?
I'd much rather hear kids talking and laughing even laughing loudly is a nice thing to hear, but screaming?Well maybe they could do that too, but in the play area,and not whilst running around on and off the road across pitches ect ect. is that really too much to ask? or to think the parents, who no doubt use the famous words "go out and play"and don't hear the screaming, cuzz its not on their doorstep,or they have become immune to it or don't really care as long as they don't have to put up with the screaming noise.
I am sorry "warmly welcomed" and screaming kids let off on the loose and unsupervised so the parents don't actually know what they are doing, are two entirely different topics.and to moan about unsupervised screaming kids, does not make you a kid hater or a strict disciplinarian either.
We as a group use CC sites mostly, and the party of 3 or 4 families have kids in them, we always check the site has proper facilities for the kids to use, and somebody is always near by to keep an eye on their safety as they range from 5 to 16 now.
Never noticed any unfriendly vibes from other campers on the CC sites we have used, but then our kids don't run wild, but they still enjoy themselves.

Me and the wife are JUST 50 and the thought of being put in a quite boring part of a campsite is quite scarey. Me and Sue want to be with the families and kids

"blame the parents, but I am wondering here Phil having read your post, how you personally would handle a ten or 11 year old running down a shopping isle playing air planes and not looking and sending your 4 year old flying and crashing to the Ground hurt. Well its only a little fun, I am sure you wouldn't mind. But in the same circumstances I would mind,and I would blame the parents!!!
We do it because we have been so repressed by old folks for years.

Why is it that saturday and sunday the supermarkets are filled with grumpy old pensioners complaining about ques and children...... go shopping during the week...... it will be easier and there will be no children

Its now 1/2 term for 2 weeks,. Children everywhere , in the parks, the roads, the shops and even the odd caravan site.... you better close the curtains , lock the doors and not come out to play.... ah , sorry you dont k now play is, its using ones imagination,, perhaps to be a car, or an aeroplane or a ship, or a train. i bet you old uns played at being trains or have you forgotten as it was such a long time ago.
Most of them dont bite and are quite clean you know.

Too dangerous to go when the kids are off school. If we don't get mown down by a passing jet we run the risk of injury from stuff falling off the shelves because of the aeroplanes wake

so dont go to them go to the big everything on site venues with clubs swiming pools and restraunts, and leave more room on the quiet sites for us wrinkly hermits that acctually enjoy the tranquility and peace.
