Used Alfa Romeo 159

"1.9 diesel engine is troublesome" ! got one had 5. the same identical engine is fitted to the Fiat and General motors cars of that era...! no more troublesome than anything from VW or Ford range of that Era and when fitted to Fiats and Alfa's of that era. the torque figures have always been a few Ft Lbs less than rivals.they had less issues concerning DMF than most of their rivals...interesting article never the less. oh and the 159 when compared to rivals doesn't have the biggest of boots.

Read it and laughed at it.There might be some truth in it though.Timing belts and water pumps do fail especially when owners try and get 100k before a service interval,FPT recommend 60k.Still the most robust and advanced passenger diesel engine availble today.

and the cam-belts need to be changed regardless of mileage at 4 or 5 years max..Any car that has the camblet running the water pump should have the water pump changed at the cambelt intervals, regardless of make..
