User names

There was correspondence some time ago about people being able to have the same user names. I thought this had been resolved? However, there is a lengthy thread initiated by someone with the same name as me. I have been a (somewhat intermittent) user for a couple of years or more. Should I change my name?

Hi Jo

The only way to resolve the problem of members with the same username is for one or the other of you to alter your username slightly, for example Jo followed by an initial which would differentiate between you and someone else who was also called Jo

Hi Parksy

How come the system doesn't stop this duplication in the first place? I know Lord Hezzer is not too flush but even I've noticed a lot of "Alans" lately.

Also how can we see the full list of members and /or how many members are there?

Cheers

Alan.

Hi Alan

I'm afraid that this search engine doesn't have any automatic system in place to stop names being duplicated. The entire operating system is somewhat outdated but the problem is that when it was originally set up it was tied in to Haymarket's other interests which is why the promised new caravan forum is taking so long to develop I think.

Similarly we have no available full list of members or of how many of us there are.

I would hope that when the new site is finally launched that one or two of these issues will be dealt with.

In the meantime we have to keep pedalling

Hi Parksy,

did you forget the word "backwards" after pedalling??

Cheers
