Using Satellite

Have recently bought a portable satellite kit from Maplin. Have endeavoured to test it before going on a trip. We are finding it very difficult to lock on to satellite, has anyone any tips?

Many thanks

use the search button at the top of the page. there are many, and i mean many threads about setting up your portable sat system.

i have one and it takes around 5mins to setup and find the astra 28.2e sats.

Have you got a sat finder, and have you read the manual that came with the system?

Hello Olive,Ive got one of these portable systems. In the beginning I did find it extremely difficult to find a satellite.

Have you got a compass,so that you know where 28.2 degrees from south actually is?

I think the key thing is to move the dish extremely slowly,as it is very easy to miss astra 2,and make sure you have line of sight, trees are bad news, and then once your locked onto it the dish needs to be fixed firmly.

Once you get the knack it just takes a matter of minutes to get it working.

As philspadders says there is loads of info on the forum about this.

Cheers Richard

Many thanks for replies it is actually my husband who is doing it so will pass it all on to him because if it was me we would never have it working. Once again many thanks
