using sky viewing card in caravan

can any one help we are looking to get a sky dish for the caravan we have sky + at home and are wondering can we just take the card and use a different reciever or do we have to take the sky+ box from home (and would the box from home work)and also will we be able to get sky sports and movies (we are suscribed o these channels)

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT BECAUSE WE CAN NOT GET AN ANSWER FROM SKY

We bought a cheap second hand digibox of eBay to use in the caravan and just take the viewing card from home. So far, we haven't had any problems with viewing.

There was post about this a few months back and I seem to remember that some said they couldn't use the viewing card in the caravan.

I'd give it a try and see how you go.

thanks is it really hard work to set up i have been looking at other posts and it sounds very techno (things you do for kids to watch sky sports)

If your digi-box at home is Sky+ I don't know if your card would work in "normal" box.

I believe that because you have sky plus, the card is mated to

that machine.

We have sky plus, and another box and card in the youngsters room.

We are unable to switch cards from one machine to another.

I would say that this maybe something new sky have activated in

the last 2 odd years, so maybe older systems may not have

this matching code system.

we took our skyplus card to france in our old pace receiver and it worked but could not get films,got UK gold and similar.I understand premium channels like sports and films are tied to the registered box.We have taken sky+ box for short periods as the contract says about having phone line connected for first year,after that i dont suppose they care,we only had one lnb on dish and didnt use it to record I dont see any reason why it shouldnt if you needed to,or you could get a twin lnb set up they are probably available on flea bay.

if i get a dish with one lnb do i use the input one on the back of the sky+ box or input 2

What you will need is to buy another sky dish to keep in the caravan.You can get them off ebay cheap enough.You will also need a quad lnb,rather than a standard one(which i have found out after my sky plus box not working with a standard lnb).

Once you have this just bring ur sky box to the caravan,tune in which takes a while and enjoy.When tuning in i start my dish at south south east and turn slowly east,but b patient!
