Vauxhall Omega and Swift Challenger - any good?

Hello everyone, I wonder if any of you have the following combination and if it's a good one.

I have a 2.2 Auto Vauxhall Omega (2002) and am considering buying a 2002 Swift Challenger 530SE.

Now the sales lady reconed that this would be a good match but ................. she said that about ALL the vans we looked at and surely they can't all be a match??

I know the Omega is a big heavy solid car but I'm really not sure whether to take her advise or not, can anyone help me out here?

I used to tow with a 2.6 Omega 2002. Great car to tow with, but boy did it drink petrol. The only other thing was that it would change down from 5th gear on the slightest incline and take forever to change up again.

I'm a bit surprised at your comment about the car dropping down from 5th gear on slight inclines. I never even bothered to try using 5th gear at all when towing. (Of course, it all depends on the overall gear ratios and the shape of the engine torque curve, so it's different from model to model, but I never considered the ability to use all gears when towing to be a necessity).
