Vehicle excise duty - Road Tax - Thought I had it sussed!!

Back at the last budget and on previous links on here I thought my road tax for my Mits Shogun Sport warrior 55 plate registered Jan 2006 was going to increase to over £400 due to the high emissions, however, it hasn't. Just got the road tax request in and for 12 months the cost will be £210, what's going on????? Not complaining but I am sure I remember reading about the increase, is it a case that the increase is delayed??? Does anyone know?

On this subject, it's very difficult trying to find out exactly when the new rates come into effect next year. Is it March or April?

After a lot of digging I found one reference to new prices from 1st April 2009. Can anyone else confirm this?

It also goes up in two stages, part next year and the rest in 2010. As to whether it is March or April, who knows.

BTW, I have heard that the DVLA will not allow you to post back the remainder of your tax disc in March and re-tax for a year at the current price. To do that, you have to do it by December.

civical.

It does not go up in two stages, the government has merely given the road tax raises for two years, at once rather than the anually announcement.

Also there is no new law to stop you cashing in your road tax one week and then renewing it the next .

You have to fill in a sourn document just like you have had to do for the last few years.

I have heard that from Jan to Mar, the SORN tax disc refund will not be available to stop anyone topping up on a full year's cheap roadtax
