Hi
Well, after a very wet and windy fortnight in Devon (for the past 2 years, I must add) we have decided that next year we will make out first trip to France ......... yipeee!!!!
I am just looking for some advice please on recommendations for campsites. We are a family with 3 children aged 14, 9 and 7, and would like a campsite that would keep them amused for the duration of the holiday. We are looking for a campsite with a large pool, waterslides etc and also a kids club if possible. Cleanliness of the campsite for me is paramount ........ lol!!!
The area that we have been researching is La Tranche Sur Mer around the Vendee region. We have found a campsite called "Camping Bel" which at the moment is our number one choice, but I am slightly worried that it will be too quiet for the children.
Any advice, would be greatly appreciated!!!!
We have just bought the caravan home to clean, and here in sunny Derbyshire it is yes you've guessed it .............. raining!!!!!!!!
Thank You

My daughter and family (kids of 5, 7, and 10) have been going to Camping La Garangeoire, near Saint Julien des Landes for the last few years. It is about fifteen mins inland from St. Gilles-Croix de Vie and in easy reach of several nice coastal spots. It has multiple water slides etc as well as loads of organised activities for kids (and grown ups). She would not keep going back if it was not spotless in every respect. We had a look round in June and may well go ourselves next year. She does need to book early (on return home) to be sure of getting in. Their Email address is:info@garangeoire.com and their website is: www.camping-la-garangeoire.com .Check it out. We went to les Brunelles in June, a couple or three miles from La Tranche; plenty of fun for kids, pools etc . Both are in the Camping Cheques brochure.
Good luck!
Regards

You could try Camping La Yole at Orouet just south of St Jean de Monts. (www.la-yole.com) Well run site with good pool etc complex. Nearest beach approx 1mile from site; with literally miles of sandy beaches to play on at St Jean de Monts itself. Camping Cheque site but not in high season of course.

Hi
Like you we had a wet time in Devon last year, so this year we took the plunge and went to the Vendee for 2 weeks, just got back last weekend. Weather was superb!! most days were sunny with temperatures averaging about 25 C, a couple of overcast days but nothing serious. We have 2 children, a girl of 10 and a boy of 5. We stayed at Le Domaine des Forges which is in Avrille, about 10mins from La Tranche sur Mer. The site was ideal, spotless with huge pitches and most pitches had water hook up and drainage. There is a new shower block that was cleaned and inspected 3 times a day, spotless! The outdoor pool was kept at 31 c and each morning the sunbeds were laid out in very neat rows, the liitle attention to the finer details were a joy. Every evening there were events, a Clown on one evening (for adults too!) mussels and frites night, quiz etc. Plenty to do for all ages, a kids club every day from 10am until 12.30 except Saturdays, gave the kids a chance to play different games, also gave us a chance to enjoy a bit of peace. Check out the web site on www.campingdomainedesforges.com We are booking there for next year again, without doubt!!
Simon
PS. For some reason the above link doesn't work, very sorry, but if you google the website it does. Strange that!
