Visionplus Masts - slightly daft question

I have a Visionplus Image make antenna which goes up on a mast. I have a couple of clamps on the side of the van which it goes into. When I bought it, I bought it with a short bit of mast, I have now learnt that this pole I bought is an extension to the uni-mast which you can buy. If I want to simply add a little bit of height, can I just buy another extension pole and join it, rather than buy a whole uni-mast?

Have you tried the aerial in the extension pole you bought,if it works why bother with a complete mast.

It works, but I had trouble at the campsite I last stayed at whilst others worked. It wasn't a great site for signal though and I think was dependant on pitch position.
