Chris,

We're using the Tiguan's big bro at the moment and love the quality of VW.

Don't know if you are a C&CC member, or know someone who is, but the 2.0 SE TDi 4Motion 140ps auto Tiguan is on test in May's issue of 'The Camping & Caravan Club' magazine.

Although 3 writers seem to have driven the car, it doesn't look as if they got round to towing with it, which seems a bit silly in such a publication.

You could also check out www.mytiguan.co.uk - where you will find lot's of chat and topics about the car.

We have just returned after 7 days on the Isle of Wight towing our Ereba Trol 54O with a Tiguan sport tdi 4motion 140ps. We previously had a VW Touran tdi 170 ps that was ok towing power wise and as a pratical vehicle I would rate it 7 out of 10.The Tiguan is a class act .It is a totaly differant animal,it drives like a 21st centary vehicle .The ride is 50% better than the Touran it has all the power you will ever likley to require .Lastly its great fun to drive. We love it. I bought a 2.0 SE TDi last week, but not towed with it yet, we are off to France next week, so will let you know when we get back (in August)

I've only done 600 miles solo (at an average of 42mpg), so it's a bit soon to say how it goes.

I had a Mk 5 Golf 2.0 TDi before, and that towed our 470/2 Dart like a rocket. The Tiguan is lower geared than the Golf at 30mph/1000rpm in 6th, whereas the Golf was 35mph/1000rpm so that should be better for towing, not sure about the 'electronic' handbrake though.

I've noticed that the factory fitted towbar is 19" (48cm) from the ground to the top of the ball

If you have a black Tiguan - Were you towing your Troll on the M25 northbound on Friday?
