VW Touareg V10

The V10 is not likely to be stressed towing anything.

I've driven a few Touareg V10's and the surprising thing is that compared to the 4.2Diesel Q7 it is rather sluggish lacks power and the Q7 returns better economy despite being bigger.

Hi Christine

This is obviously an amazing car/engine. I did consider getting this engine in my VW Phaeton. It would have been great fun, but the fuel economy and potential tyre wear put me off.

If you like the car, then there's not much that the 3.0 tdi won't be able to pull anyway.

Hi.

I am the owner of a VW touareg. Not the V10 I hasten to add. I have to say that it is the worst car I have ever had! Not because of its looks, or towing ability which is undoubtly very good but because it has been in the garage more than on the road. It has cost me

Hi Christine,

We had a V10 Touareg for nearly a year, it towed our Senator Wyoming like a dream, absolutley superb car, both solo and towing. However! as it approached 3 years old, and the warranty was close to ending, our concern was that if something went wrong outside waranty, it would cost an awful lot to repair.

Around this time, the V10 had to go into the dealers for a problem with the headlights (they kept turning off for no reason when driving in the dark, then going back on a couple of seconds later). Dealer offered us a 3L V6 as a courtesy car, which we were very impressed with.

We eventually ended up trading in the V10 for an ex-demonstrator 3L V6 Altitude, which was 6 months old, so no worries with the warranty. This has also proved itself to be an excellent towcar, and as it approaches 2 years old, we plan to keep it for some time.

We never encounted any problems with either vehicle (bar the lights with the V10) and they are very solidly built.

I would love to go back to the V10, but my only concern would be the repair bills if something went wrong. In which case, you could maybe consider an extended warranty, which i think is around
