Wareham forest caravan park, Dorset.

Hi all, i am now looking at next years holidays in july. We have gone to devon and cornwall for the past four years and fancied a change. We quite like the look of Wareham forest caravan park. Has anyone been there and would you recommend it? We always stick to the c.c sites because the standards are usually good, can anyone tell me whether this site has similar standards.Last year we stayed at looe c.c and my children really enjoyed the outdoor pool, the c.c sites in Dorset dont seem to have a pool so wareham does have an advantage.

I hope you can help me decide, cheers Mike.

Hi Michael,

I have stayed at this site several times including New Year but never in the height of the season. It should be good for the Kids but very busy I would guess.

Access directly into the forest so take the bikes!

Another option might be Ullwell cottage site at Swanage. This has an indoor pool and Bar/restaurant and Ideal for Swanage itself.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Wareham Forest is a really excellent site just along the road from Hunters Moon CC site. We have stayed there several times. Yes it does get busy in the main summer period but the owners really keep things under control. The swimming pool is very good assuming the weather is warm. For us the main attractions are that you can walk directly from the site into the forest and you are well positioned for visiting the Poole/ Bouremouth area or going to Swanage or Studland (probably the best beach in this part of the south coast. Also plenty to do in the area.

The site is always very neat and tidy and facilities very clean. Pitches are also very good. Generally site compares very well with CC sites.

Don't mention Studland beach with Plotter around?????????
Oh dear I should have pointed out studland also has part of the beach as an offical nudist beach !!!! this may be a benefit to some !!!

I have been to a CC site in that area (but can't remember which one) that is next to a 'travellers' site. Major problems with dog noise. Anyone knows which one and is it still a problem?

The only Caravan Club site in this area is Hunters Moon. I don't think it is next to a travellers site although there is one about 1/4 mile away. The wardens said they have had no trouble from this site. However whenever we have stayed at Hunters Moon there always seems to be a dog barking in the adjacent house which can be a pain in the morning !

Wareham Forest tends to be much quieter although you get some road noise from the roadway which runs through Wareham Forest. This effect virtually all sites along this road. (Wareham Forest TP; Hunters Moon and Birchwood TP)

Checked our diary and it was Hunters moon. Pretty sure it was adjacent site, there were many complaints in visitors book, disturbed nights sleep etc (pitches around 19/20 etc were the worst) and wardens said it was a long running problem with council involved.

This was about 18 months ago, it was a nice site so we would like to go back, anyone been there recently?

We tend to go there each year around Feb/Mar. and yes I must admit the dog is still alive !!!!

Love Wareham Forest - this is one of our favourite sites. The facilities are very clean, nice spacious site and has direct access to the forest if you have a dog or children who like adventure. (ideal for biking) Small playground, shop and outdoor pool. Short distance to Wareham itself with supermarkets & shops.
