water heater problem on sterling elite searcher

I have just purchased a new sterling elite searcher.

We had a first wekend away which we enjoyed but had problems with the heater all weekend.

When we arrived i connected up to electric. I then turned the electric to 2Kw on the panel. After about an hour the van temperature was 10 deg, and didn't warm up. I left it all night to see if it improved.

In the morning there was an error code on the panel saying SERIAL. I read in the manual that this was a electrical supply fault.

My dealer has told me to check the multi connectors at the boiler and at the supply end uder the front seats. I've checked the boiler end which was OK. I'm not confident that this is the problem.

Can anyone help me.

Paul

You say you selected 2kw on the heater, what heater are you talking about?

Truma, or Alde heating?

With an error message of SERIAL you have a communication fault between the heater and the panel,

This could be caused by one, or more, of the following:

Break in communication data cable between heater and panel.

Ignition spark going to earth, disturbing the communication.

Another electrical device disturbing the communication.

This is a dealer job to rectify.
