Can anyone recommend a device for monitoring the water level in an external 40ltr Aquarol from inside the van?

Try a length of plastic pipe (rigid 3/4" overflow) then put a stick with a float on it so that the stick floats and rides up and down the pipe. If you were dedicated you could calibrate the stick with marks. It has to be monitored by looking out of the van window, but there's nothing to go wrong.

Surely the simple solution is to make the Aquarol translucent.................??
