hi, i have recently noticed that the carpet area in front of the fridge/sink unit has a wet patch of about 18 inch in diameter. this happened due to the waste pipe from the drainer coming loose last weekend and the spillage came out under the fridge area. i still have the plastic cover on the carpet and thought the damp patch would dry out, but thats been from last saturday and its still visible, question is, could this possibly do any harm to the flooring underneath, or am i being paranoid about it ?

cheers.

Can you remove the carpet ??

If you cant this is what i would do, get the heating on full & get the van hot inside so the damp patch dry's up, it might take a day or so, but i would not leave it just to dry out by itself.

And if possible have a small fan blowing air at the damp patch to help it dry.

It depends if there is any vinyl under the carpet.

By leaving the plastic cover on, you are trapping the water in the carpet, which will get damaged unless you remove the plastic and vax the carpet dry.

If there is no vinyl under the carpet, then you could well cause problems with the floor under the carpet.

our shower leaked last week and the bathroom carpet was soaked, we got the majority up by putting towels on it and standing on them, then when we got home put our dihumidifier on and in 2 days it was dry, it had got approx a bucket full of water out of it, we swear by it. mark
