Waterproofing awning/tent

A couple of years ago I bought the children a small tent so they can 'camp' out alongside. I was waterproof, now needs re-proofing, my neighbour said he simply sprayed some Thompsons builders damproof clear liquid onto his tent (bought from B&Q) said it worked a charm. Is he having me on ???

I personally would head on down to my local camping shop and purchase the correct waterproofing spray. I wouldn't trust to luck where the kids are concerned.

If you need to re proof use the correct proofer such as Graingers Fabseal, great on tents and clothing.
