We have just returned back to sunny Dorset from our trip to Abroath. Worst outside was -19 which warm compared to the -35 in Lapland last year!.All four caravans had a fantastic time. No major issues. Superb walks , bit of beachcasting, Visits to pubs / log fire of course. Get togethers every nigh etc, etc. Fantastic adventure.

Still enjoying our outing. The weather back home was snow but here we just had a sprinkling, now though it is rain looking dry fr the last few days before we return.

I think that the two clubs and PC should be reported to trading standards for misrepresentation of the joys of caravanning. Midges and storms lasts September. High winds rain in October. Storms and sewage etc in January. I feel lucky that having spent the last six days away we got one dry sunny day. When do I plan on getting out the bbq, donning shorts and tee shirt and sipping a nice wine or beer. After all the magazines all show caravanners doing such.
I will even have to pre wash the car before taking it into my local hand car wash as it looks as if it’s been greenlaning.

Same here Hutch, ours coming home Sunday before we go away next weekend to Barnard Castle for the weekend but it still has all the grime of the Scotland weather off a few weeks ago on it , never seen it so scruffy , it's going to take some elbow grease to sort it out and a good few hours and like you say, more snow forecast at the weekend!

I have just ventured outside to check on the water barrels and both are frozen. The one has the expensive supposedly insulated cover which was bought for in excess of £30 from a place that specialises in making these covers!
Can any one make a suggestion how to defrost the barrels as we probably cannot bring them into the caravan?[/quotet
Can't help with the defrost. But can suggest you copy me. I have one of my water barrels fitted with a insulated cover, as you do in winter. But the fit is so bad, open hole round the top. Ideal for heat to escape - heat in both air and water rises. I have added a waterproof aquarium heater, it uses about 400 watts. And in twenty years, even -18C have never had a frozen water barrel.
