Up here (Lancashire) we've had a couple of days snowing,if we have as many days of snow as we did of sunshine this summer then winter will be a walk over...though I doubt it

We had snow here in Weymouth right down on the south coast on Wednesday, caused havoc, but I think the last time we had any was 10+ years ago!

We had a major heatwave two years ago.

It seems a couple of decades since we've had a proper winter!

Ever since I started to shod the cars with all seasons I’ve not really had any opportunity to test them on real snow, just the occasional slush. And that’s about in your timescale. Even the Beast from the East wasn’t an opportunity as we were in the Forest of Dean and stayed local to the site by going on nice walks.

All our snow up here around Manchester melted in the space of about 4 hours, as temperatures went from 1.2'c at 07:30 to 10'c at 11.30.
It's also rained cats and dogs non stop, and the river Irwell has just broke its banks in the last hour or so.

I have planned similar, forget the All season tyres, weather down here, in Buckinghamshire hasn't been that bad. So normal Summer tyres.
But, I have a set of snow chains, a throwback from travel to Switzerland a few years ago.
All season might be needed in God's Country, near Monymusk in Scotland. But not in RMK.

The benefit of all-seasons isn't just in snow or ice - they're also superior in cool, damp conditions that we do get a lot of in all parts of the UK.

I lived in Berkhamsted Herts until 2019 and I well remember stuck cars in the snow on the A41 with me breezing down the outside lane courtesy of my all season tyres and 4x4. I wouldn't fit anything else now apart from on my Z3 that's in the garage from October to March.

Apparently the new thing is those snow socks as they don't damage the road? I wonder if they are really efficient in snow?

Looking at YouTube tests they do work well, but they are not long lasting so have to be removed once you are on your way.
