Weight of caravan?

Hi, just hoping someone can help, we are looking to buy our first caravan and have no knowledge at all about caravans. We went to see a caravan that was for sale a couple of days ago, its a 20 year old compass shadow 4 berth, the only thing is, we don't know the weight of it. We have a citreon xsara picasso 1.6 and it seems that we can only tow 900kgs with this car. So before we can purchase this caravan we really need to find out the weight. Just wondering if anyone on here could advise us of the weight of this type of van.

hi is it petrol / diesel ? . we had 2.0 diesel and towed 1060 kg no problems great car wish still had

I take it that it is a 1.6 petrol, as that, as correctly stated, has a maximum towload of only 900kg. All other versions, including the 1.6 diesel, have a 1300kg limit. The very low max. towload of the 1.6 petrol is not without reason. I don't know what the weight of the caravan is, but as it's a 4 berth, it's highly unlikely that it would be within the Citroen's limit.

hi don,t know if year of picc makes difference but on citroen site max towing limit across all picc range is 1300 ,have a look @ www.caravans-for-sale.com/adverts/154/15423/-15k- they have 1989 compass shadow 4 berth 4 sale might be worth dropping him e-mail or ring to find weight cheers john
