On top of the normal domestic bills, this month I have the Shoguns Big Service (£1048). Caravan Service. Two lots of car tax. One MOT. Excess ins for caravan damage. Caravan insurance. Car insurance. The burglar alarm service. Oh, and a set of front pads.

Now. Who was asking where we are going in April. 😡

I have manage by accident to spread the main "chosen " extra spends, over three different months. Caravan service and insurance in March, motorbike, Tax and Insurance in July and car tax insurance and MOT in September.
Oh forgot about house insurance I think thats August.
Two fillings on 21st of this month £350.
Where will we go in May?

What on earth do they do in a Shogun service? At £1048, that's up in Rolls-Royce money.

Wow-shims? Can be a big job! I am like you lots of things come at the same time but I put away for each every month plus a bit spare for surprises for each area of cost-boiler service, caravan service, insurance, car ins and service etc-it's all in my account and used to make some interest, and then pay it when it arrives-no shock!

Its not come as a shock, we have exactly this every April, its just thought er bought both car and caravan in an April so all the bills for those will alsways have the same anniversary. We also acquired our Volvo in April when my father gave up driving, so that added to it all. Should be OK by next month, Ill be able to afford a bowl of gruel for my dinner :)

Looks horrendous. We pay a small monthly sum to cover the cost of servicing the car and they just collect it, service it, MOT it and return it cleaned for me at a discount, Saves big bills on that. Possibly you could pay six months on one car so they are taxed six months apart. I do try to juggle the bills so they are reasonably spread out although you can do nothing about the insurance excess.
I assume where you are going in April is the bank for a loan, assuming there is still one within 50 miles.

Just paid £315 car tax, plus caravan insurance and house insurance. June-July will be biggies as we are having new kitchens in our house and treating our daughter to one too. Stress levels are increasing so a two week break in May is essential.

I was quoted nearly £900 for an ATF change/refresh and Haldex service by a Volvo dealer, on top of a £450 service. I declined.

I also had to update my own SatNav. Took so long, I ended up just letting the update run as I drove the car. No wonder they didn't want to do the work.

I had the Haldex fluid changed every 20k on my Superb as per the recommendation , but at 44k the pump went. No warranty cover. At leat the Volvo auto gearbox isn’t as sensitive as the Superb’s DSG to fluid age or mileage.

Nearly 80k miles on the Auto and Haldex oil in my car was pushing it.

I took the car to local independent Volvo specialist in the end and TBH I will be taking the car to them for servicing etc from now on. They had problems getting hold of the OEM fluid and washers from Volvo, as they said they do not do this work! Explains the price I was quoted.

The photos I was shown and the remains of the oil in the workshop prove that these things are not "sealed for life" especially when you tow.

Caravan Serviced today, by local AWS engineer, all good , maximum damp reading in the rear bathroom / shower area, was 12, so all very happy, changed the tyre on spare wheel as that was coming up for 10 years old.
He told me he is fully booked for servicing until March next year, he allows Tuesdays and Thursdays for repairs.
