Morning all! We're putting together another County Counsel feature for Practical Caravan and are looking for reader recommendations for sites in Oxfordshire – can you help? Any replies could be printed in the magazine with a credit to you, of course. :)

They can be full-facility sites, small CS/CL sites, club sites, independents, adult-only, family-friendly, well-established, recently opened ... whatever you like, so long as it's a site you've enjoyed time at and you're happy to recommend.

Thanks in advance!

We like the CC site at Bladon Chains. It is on the Blenheim Estate and you get a discount for there which will normally go a long way to covering a nights pitching costs. The Park and Ride is fairly close for a visit to Oxford. The site itself is fairly typical of the club but is on a slope and some of the pitches do slope appreciably but otherwise we see no problems with it. Access of the main road is easy.

Second + for Bladon Chains.

The entry to Blenheim can be 'upgraded' to an annual pass for free, you just need to have your photo taken and a card issued that takes a couple of minutes. You then get unlimited access to Blenheim for the next year.

We did just that last May late BH, and visited Blenheim for the 3 days over that trip saving the entry fee, plus there was a food & drink festival on, which meant free food & drink all weekend.

Another event is CountryFile Live, from the BBC Sunday programme that is well worth visiting. Free tickets often available on mobile phone contracts, keep your eyes peeled.

In September we attended the Luna Cinema where 'Spectre' was on against the backdrop of Blenheim Palace.

Also worth visiting Churchill's grave in the church in the village.

We've used the grass pitches at the top of the site. You can pitch facing the field next door and wake up to baa lambs and sheep as you open the blinds.

Hi Lizzie

The Woosies have just returned from http://bridgevilla.co.uk/campsite/.
An excellent site. Chosen by His Royal Woosieness for our Spring Fest.
The dog walk runs to acres following a massive meadow and the Thames .
So much to do including following both The Midsomer Murders Trail and The Agatha Christie Trail. Preserved steam railways and river boats. Also some excellent eating places within very easy walking distance . The facilities here are first class.

........obviously I agree with Dustydog :)

Bridge Villa at Cromarsh Gifford is a very well run family owned site.
The site facilities are excellent and kept that way.
Most of the pitches are grass but kept well mown with the clippings collected........so no bits in the caravan!
The site's position has a delightful mix of small town and open country.....a five minute walk gets you to either.
Nearby Wallingford has lots of history as well as being home to that famous author mentioned by Dusty.
I have been to Bridge Villa more than once and always had a good time which is my yardstick.
