What do things weigh?

Can anyone tell me where to find a list of how much items ie crockery, bedding, empty aqua rolls etc weigh!

The C&CC have data sheets on their website, one of which is called Car & Caravan Matching. Below is an extract from that sheet relating to item weights.

Hi Tim,

The first thing we weigh is the caravan itself (empty) at the local weighbridge. It has been my experience that the weights quoted by the manufacturers are frequently optimistic.

Many of the items you load in the caravan will vary in weight, we have a 110Ah battery - it weighs 29kg, a spare wheel can vary depending on size, a motor mover can weigh up to 35kg.

The best advice I would say is weigh everything you put in the 'van (a set of bathroom scales will do) and then write the weights down and keep for future reference.

It's a bit of a ba**ache but it's the only accurate weigh (sorry, way);-)

Have a look at this - we weighed it all (sad I know)and put it in a spreadsheet so we could juggle stuff around to keep the van below its MTPLM of 1420kg and we know what to take out to compensate for the grandkids bikes (about 10kg each) which we transport in the van when we take them. Most of the stuff remains in the van and generally clothing, food and beer travel in the car (unless we are touring when most of it stays in the van)
