Ok then, how many of you get that "Isn`t it good to have the van on the back again feeling every time you hitch up?"

We have just collect the caravan for the fourth time this year and on such a sunny day, and we looked at each other on the way back and smiled and `hubby` said "feels good to be towing the van again"

Are we a breed apart from all those who do not understand what it feels like to have your second home attached at the back!

So what feelings do you get......?

Both me and the misses get really excited and we cant sleep the night before going away for a holiday with the van. The problem with this is were both knackered the next day and both irritable, (awning is fun)

l don't like the traveling very much when you have the kids arguing in the back of the car.

l do however get that feeling of being at home when everything is set up and l am sat with my mug of coffee.

As soon as we hitch up it gives us great excitement of again getting away from the rat race. Even with the snow showers we had yesterday it didn't dent our feeling of good will now that the van is again packed ready for the road.

Has the caravan season come early this year. Have been seeing a lot of caravans out and about on the local roads, and whenever I see one, I wonder, why isn't it me?

Getting away in the van is a feeling that surpasses many other things, getting to the end of the road and tossing a coin, or whatever, to decide which way to go, and the thought that whatever happens, they cannot get you now. However, the thought of temperatures struggling above 6/7 degrees and a forecast of rain followed by sleet or snow does make me think that next week has to be better. We have promised ourselves that we will head south next week, returning before Easter, to avoid the dreaded rush, and settle things in the van for the season.

On the bright side we head truly south at the end of May for the whole summer through to September. Dordogne in June, Med in July/August. Cannot wait, it was something we always promised ourselves through many years of working.

I must admit I never was one that truly enjoyed driving or had a great interest in motor vehicles. To me they were a means of getting me from A to B but I do enjoy towing for some strange reason unbeknown to me. My best time though is having set up on site I can put up my feet and relax with a drink before going shopping for food. The worse part is unpacking everything once back home.

Why unpack it all? Leave in as much as you can. I agree fresh food and the dirty laundry should be removed, but the rest can stay. It can be fun on the next trip discovering the bottle of wine you had forgotten about, at the bottom of the locker.

We sometimes discuss/argue that there is more in the van, than the house.

I leave all the cutlery/crockery etc on the van Scotch Lad. Its the TV, awning, wastemaster, aquaroll, laundry, books etc we take off. We leave some clothes on there though.
