What tow car should i buy

I was looking at an 07 Plate Vectra life 1.8 the other day in Widnes. It had 13000 on the clock and it was a minter.

It came from Enterprise so the small dealership selling must have some deal going with them.

It was for sale for less that 7000. if i was to get it could this car tow a caravan with a twin axle. I dont know how to work out the weight thing re the car and van.

do i need something more than a 108cc

never had a van before so i just dont know what to go for.

Any advice is welcome.

above should read 1.8cc

Hi,

I doubt you could tow a twin axel with a 1.8cc car. Basically you have two main considerations.. The Car's kerbweight and the Vans MTPLM

The Van's MTPLM MUST NOT be more than the cars kerbweight it would be illegal to tow. The recommended wisdom is the caravan should be 85% or less (for beginners) - you can tow legally up to 100% (MTPLM) is normally on a plate by the door on the caravan.

Next you need to think about power of the car - Most of us use diesels - more tug than a petrol. I'd have thought 1.8 was low.

but You can check matches on http://www.towcar.eu/basic_index.php
