"Whatever you do Dad ... don't lose the lid from your portapotti down the chemical disposal point!"

Famous last words - during their second outing at Cirencester this weekend, and the inaugral emptying of said Rocktrail portable toilet ... poor Dad inadvertantly knocked the lid from where you put your water down into the chemical disposal point. Him having large hands - he looked hopefully at my much smaller pair and raised his eyebrows. My reply was and is unprintable.

We have now ordered him two spare lids as a precaution!!!!!!! Bless him

I have always wondered how many were lost in this way. I have seen trays at the side to put the cap on on a few sites but otherwise it is anywhere except the wall round the disposal point.

Just seen this post and yes I know its old but I did just that today and its not a nice feeling sticking your arm down a hole full of shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii water 🙂

Never again.

Like others, I always put mine on the floor. But aside from the inconvenience (sorry!) to you, what about the poor site warden who has to clear the blockage that your lost cap can cause?

There's no use in being clumsy unless you show it, and I have to confess that when we had our first cassette toilet I did the same thing.
There's no way to describe the awful feeling as you watch the cap plop into the pit of foaming evil is there?

I've always got some plastic (or nylon?) gloves in the car, a habit from when I was a mechanic, so I posted Herself by the emptying point to make sure that no one emptied the contents of their cassette on top of my cap and I pulled on a glove and reluctantly put my hand in and retreived the cap which was thoroughly washed and disinfected, as were my hands despite the protection of the glove.

The cap goes on the floor every time now, it's not the kind of mistake that you'd make twice!
