Wheel bolt tightness.

I have a Bailey Olympus 462 (2010) in the instructions the bolt tightness is shown as 110 NM, I have had it serviced and the technician showed on his report that he had tightened the bolts to 130 NM. I commented on this and his reply was that the current recommendation from manufacturers was for between 120 to 130 NM . The instruction book states that it is as dangerous to over tighten the bolts as to under tighten them. Does anyone know whether the recommendation has been changed.

Sorry can't help.

Personally I always insist on using my own torque wrench and doing the final tightening of the wheel bolts myself.

There was a spate of Bailey wheels falling off. Bailey introduced a new wheel bolt, WSL with a defined torque. My Swift was 130nm on alloys and 110nm on steel wheel. It was a 2011 caravan and its handbook had an amendment label on front cover and a couple inside. I would check with Bailey. Some owners fitted WSL fasteners anyway as they are superior to standard ones. Does yours have them?

We had the WSL bolts fitted to our 2011 model Unicorn, under a recall. The torque is 160Nm. The dealer put stickers in the owners manual showing the new torque setting. Can't remember when they were fitted but don't think it was that long after we bought it new in October 2010.

The unicorn Valencia, Madrid and Almeria were 160Nm

Unicorn ll all models had WSL wheel bolts and were 130Nm as they still are now
