The caravan dealer dropped our caravan at the arranged time on Tuesday and back it on our fully service pitch and next minute the Al-ko wheel lock was on , so far very happy with it . Also it come with a manufacture alarm and a tracker .

Good that it all went well.

I noticed some seasonals last week using solid waste pipes rather than the touring flexi.

Congratulations on acquiring your caravan and hope you have many happy holidays in it. Be aware that it is normally up to the consumer to activate the tracker and pay the subscription. Most trackers fitted to caravans require the buyer to notify the tracking company that the caravan has gone missing. Up to you to decide whether it is worth activating.

Is the Tracker an Insurance requirement?
If not I wouldn’t bother . As a seasonal , all plumbed in etc , I doubt your caravan is going to be a target?

Hi Dusty no it not because we have that covered with the Al-ko wheel lock and hitch lock .and Alarm .

Hopefully you are aware that the tracker fitted is a as good as a wet paper bag or a chocolate fireguard. The owner needs to notify the tracking company that the caravan is gone. We have one of these trackers in our car, but we can see the car every day as parked outside our window.

If the owner does not find out for several days that the caravan is gone, probably no chance of recovery as caravan has probably been stripped by then. However if it is a Phantom tracker you are notified straight away.

I still have the original Tracker. It can be reactivated for a few hundred quid.
CAMC insurance don't want it. Nor do yours from your posts . Do you really think you are buying a bargain?

From what I understand, the problem of using any professional tracking system is as soon as you notify the company that your caravan/ Moho has been stolen, they remove any chance of you tracking it (so that you don't follow it and get into any potential conflict). By the time they have alerted their own recovery team to try and recover it, you probably won't want it back anyway.
You can put your own micro tracker in the van and secure it discreetly. They cost about £25 and have a 6 months battery life and are accurate to about 50ft.
Most good people would recommend not getting involved with trying to recover the van yourself.
Most bad people would have an alternative opinion.

Mostly wrong. Both Tracker and Phantom tracker do not alert their recovery team as they do not have any. They work in conjunction with the police and alert the police of the location of the unit. Both are official "partners" with the police. The unit is normally recovered before any toe rags can use it.

Using your own micro tracker is a total waste of funds because even if you know the location of the unit, what can you do about it? Lastly if the unit is recovered before the insurance pay out, you may have no alternative except to take it back.
