wheel trim

On my way home from Norfolk yesterday I seem to have lost a wheel trim from my caravan. Are these purely cosmetic or should I be in a rush to replace it? Should I be worried how/why it got displaced? I am 100% sure I never scuffed it along a kerb or banged it in anyway so am at a lose as to how it came off.

Purely decorative. You can replace them cheaply enough from Towsure (www.towsure.com follow the links to Trailer Parts & Undergear and then Wheels, Tyres & Tubes). You will probably have to buy a pair.

To stop future trims coming off, most people use a plastic cable tie and fasten the trim to the wheel, top and bottom. When you need to take the trim off, you simply cut the cable tie.

If you're talking about those plastic wheel covers that clip to the wheel rim, these are purely cosmetic. They can come off if they were either not clipped properly at the last service or the plastic clips have softened with age, especially at higher temperatures.
