When does a repeated failure over say ten years become a Product Recall , if at all?

Kia ad we know are very customer driven eg our C'eed day running lights.

The Touareg at 85k miles is needing a small, cup full of coolant every 6/8 weeks or so. Apparently it is a very common problem involving a failed plastic nut on a coolant hose to an oil cooler deep in the V of the engine. It is fixable but the labour to reach by it is expensive especially main dealer. I've access to some Indies who will do it for circa £1500.

Do you think there's any chance VAG will pay🤪🤪🤔

It would be nice to think VW would help but given their financial problems I very much doubt it. The Kia had a full Kia history didn’t it, whereas the Toureg doesn’t have full VW history. But BMW bit the bullet some years back when some cars developed cylinder issues due to material faults at manufacture. Interesting to see how you get on.

According to My Treg Forum VW have told the claimants to go to the Foreign Office. Exactly as you thought. I do have the FSH, 3 years VW the rest independent. It’s a strange fault that doesn’t manifest itself when pressure tested!

Ha! Swift have had the panoramic window crack failure over years and innumerable warranty claims. There is even a FB page dedicated to it. Finding a Swift owner who hasn’t had the panoramic window crack is harder than finding someone who has.
Swift have not issued a recall and are having none of it.
I can only wish you luck

I used to use mustard powder, then moved on to Radweld or Barrs Leaks. I still have an unopened bottle of Radweld in the garage, but somehow would be loathe to use it in a modern engine with tight channels. Am I being over cautious?

Dusty Dog, In the old days when we had hair on our heads and not just growing from our ears and nostrils, if you had a leaking radiator or hose, you could crack an egg into the radiator and it would seal the leak.
Just a thought. 🤔
That's a cracking eggcellent idea Hutch. Not just a silly yoke🤪
