You might struggle a bit, Andrew. However, have you looked at continental vans? We have been looking at the smaller Hobbys and I know Eribas are very light, but I'm not sure about a fixed bed. Continental vans can generally manage a fixed bed in a smaller van because they don't include a full cooker, which makes them light enough for a car to tow. If you can manage with a hob, this could be the best route.

Hi Andrew

Bailey do a 2 berth Discovery with a MTPLM of 1130kg or 4 berth Ranger with a MTPLM of 1184kg.

These are both fixed bed models.

Hi Jennifer, we had a Bailey senator oklahoma (2003) it was a lovely van and a real comfort to have the fixed bed, however, they do take up alot of valuable space, you may find this a problem with the children, we now have a Hymer nova with a side diner and end washroom, we don't really miss the fixed bed and we have masses more room!

Best wishes, Andrew.

Hi Jennifer,

We have two young children & wanted fixed bed & fixed bunks for an easier life and are just about to order a new Burstner Belcanto which meets our requirements. It also has an oven.

Most of the European makes do a variety of fixed bed options and they do have official english versions sold via english dealers so they are worth a look.

Dethleffs,Crystall,Burstner & Adria all do these models and have UK dealerships.

Andrew,

I'm not too sure on the kerbweights but if you look on the burstner site I think it does show weights for each van.

Hi Jennifer, i would seriously think about getting a bailey 620/6, its only 11500 pounds, has a fixed bed and will cater for the kids without the great torment of putting up every bed....

see this download...

Hi Jennifer

We have purchased a fixed bed Abbey Cardinal 495, exclusive to Davan Caravans, this is our first caravan and we have two children under the aged of 8, on looking at all layouts we thought a fixed bed was a good idea, the girls can sleep in the double bed without having to make up everynight, and the front seating area is made into a larger double bed. We like the open plan of the whole van, also for the price we thought this was good value.
