Hi I'm thinking of buying a new car, but i don't know what! We have a bailey Ranger 470/4 Appprox 1200kg but would like a car which would tow more.

At the moment we have a xantia 1.9td which has served use ok till now suspension tourble again, i think it does not like towing at max weight.

We are looking for a car up to 5 years old with a good mpg, any sudgestions welcome.

Talking to friends and other caravaners I think an Omega diesel would suit you. They are very comfortable cars with all the luxouries of a BMW but at a far cheaper price. Also you will find them very economical compared with the likes of BMWs. The one to avaoid is a 2.0 litre petrol version of the Omega. Apparantly the 16 valve 2 litre is very troublesome - I know I had one. Good luck with your choice of motor and hope you enjoy your new purchase for both solo and towing.

I had a people carrier:- citreon synergy 2.0 ltr hdi 110bh max tow 1500kgs, I towed a ranger 460/2 down to the med and back with no bother loads of power, great car with 5 or 7 seats, same car with different badges are Peugot 806, or the Fiat ulasyes, I only changed it as a new van weighed 1600kgs,
